Bridge the Block Community Clean-Up Unites Black Rock Neighborhood
Buffalo, NY – On Saturday, June 28, the Black Rock community came together in an inspiring show of unity, resilience, and pride for the successful Bridge the Block Community Clean-Up. Spearheaded by local business owner Brennon Hall of Bridge Studios NY, the initiative drew dozens of residents, volunteers, and block captains who worked side by side to beautify the neighborhood, even braving high temperatures and a surprise downpour.
The clean-up was more than just a beautification effort—it was a testament to the power of community. Volunteers of all ages contributed their time and energy to clear litter, tend to green spaces, and build stronger connections across blocks.
Following the clean-up, community members gathered for a well-earned celebration at Sportsmen’s Park and The Cave, where food, music, and fellowship capped off a day of hard work and heartfelt collaboration.
“We wanted to bring people together not just to clean up, but to connect,” said Brennon Hall. “Black Rock is a place full of heart and hustle, and this event showed just how much pride our neighbors have in where they live.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our volunteers, block captains, and contributors who donated their time, treasure, or talent, and to the generous sponsors who made the event possible:

Our cleanup resulted in the removal of FOUR shopping carts from the Scajaquada Creek (Behind Wegmans) with the help of Mark Kubiniec and friends! (Joe's Service Center ), Over 30 volunteers/block captains participated, Dozens of lbs. of trash were picked up, and several local businesses united for this community-building effort!
Lastly, we’re offering a special post-event T-shirt for anyone who participated or wants to support the cause. It’s more than just a shirt — it’s a conversation starter.
